Medical examiner confirms 32 more COVID-19 deaths in Cook County; total surpasses 300

The Cook County medical examiner’s office announced Wednesday that 32 more people had died of causes related to the coronavirus, raising the county’s total to 323.

The deaths in Cook County make up nearly 70% of the 462 deaths in Illinois. Earlier Wednesday, Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced that the statewide total had risen by 82 people.

Additionally, the governor announced over 1,500 new positive COVID-19 cases, pushing the state’s tally over 15,000.
