Medical emergency forces United Airlines flight to divert to Dublin Airport

A flight from the US to Europe has been diverted to Dublin Airport due to a medical emergency.

United Airlines flight UA960 was nearing the end of its journey from Newark, New Jersey to Frankfurt in Germany when it was directed to Dublin.

As it was heading over the UK, it declared an emergency and was forced to divert, Dublin Live reports

The incident happened just after 6.20am on Wednesday when it turned as it was coming over Ayr in Scotland.

After heading over the Irish sea, it eventually landed into Dublin just before 6.50am.

It is understood that a passenger was taken to hospital after the plane was met by medical personnel.

Another passenger on board the flight said that the jet is currently refueling ahead of the final leg of the journey to Frankfurt.
