Medical emergency forces Ryanair flight to divert from Manchester to Bristol

A medical emergency forced a Ryanair flight to divert from Manchester to Bristol.

The flight, from Porto, took an unexpected diversion to Bristol Airport following an incident onboard on Friday (August 20).

The aircraft was supposed to land in Manchester.

A passenger praised the doctors and Ryanair staff on Twitter for their quick actions to help a passenger.

Twitter user @ChiefMessiah said: "Medical emergency on flight into #Manchester now diverted to Bristol.

"Respect to the @Ryanair staff and 2 Dr’s that sprung into action and the nurse who rolled up and organised them all, great teamwork."

Ryanair have confirmed the passenger was met by medics on the tarmac for further treatment, the Bristol Post reports.

In a statement they said: "This flight from Porto to Manchester (20 Aug) diverted to Bristol after a passenger became ill on board.

"The crew called ahead to request medical assistance upon arrival, the aircraft landed normally and the passenger disembarked and was met by medics for further treatment.

"The aircraft departed for Manchester a short time later. Ryanair apologises to all customers for this short delay.”
