Legendary fundraiser Tom Gilzean is understood to have been hurt in a fall at Edinburgh's York Place tram stop.
Edinburgh Trams took to social media shortly after 10am to report that they were unable to serve parts of the city due to an ongoing medical incident. They say that the "non-tram" related incident happened at the York Place stop, with emergency services in attendance.
A number of eyewitnesses have been in touch with Edinburgh Live to say that the fundraising hero fell from his wheelchair at the stop and was being seen to by medics.
Tom turned 99 earlier this year and has been working tirelessly on Princes Street for decades to raise money for the Sick Kids hospital. More than £1 million has been raised through his efforts.
A trams spokeswoman told Edinburgh Live: “At 10am today there was a non-tram related medical emergency at York Place Tram Stop concerning a member of the public.
"Emergency services were contacted by our Control Team. Whilst the emergency services attend the incident trams will run between West End and Edinburgh Airport.”
Edinburgh Trams confirmed shortly after 10.30am that emergency services had left the scene, and they were now once again running a full service.
The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed they were called to an incident at the tram stop at 9.59am.
