A 60-year-old man died Monday after he made contact with the third rail of the Red Line tracks at the Granville station on the North Side.

The man fell onto the tracks about 10:25 p.m. at the station in the 1100 block of West Granville Avenue, Chicago police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office hasn’t released details on the death.

Trains towards the Howard station were bypassing Granville for a police investigation, while 95th bound trains were not stopping at stations from Jarvis through Lawrence, the CTA said.

Area Three detectives are conducting a death investigation.
