Medical director confirms deaths of Covid-19 patients at Nottingham hospitals

More patients being treated for coronavirus have died at Nottingham hospitals, the medical director has confirmed.

Three patients between the ages of 83 and 86 are the latest to have lost their lives after testing positive for Covid-19.

The patients passed away between May 2 and May 3.

Their deaths bring the total number of patients that have died at Nottingham hospitals to 219.

Dr Keith Girling, Medical Director at Nottingham University Hospitals said: “Sadly we can confirm that a further three patients have died having tested positive for COVID-19. Regrettably that means that 219 COVID-19 positive patients we were caring for have sadly died since the beginning of March.”

“The patients were aged 83 to 86, and died on the 2 and 3 of May.”

“The families have been informed and our thoughts and condolences are with them at this difficult and distressing time.”

The most recent NHS England data for Sherwood Forest Hospitals' death toll, shows 98 people have died at the trust.

Nottinghamshire Healthcare, which runs a number of secure units in the county, has also reported a total of 11 deaths to NHS England.

There has also been a total of one death reported at the Woodthorpe Hospital operated by Ramsey Health UK.
