Media Talk: The Sun comes out for the Conservatives

Matt Wells is back – and it's a cracking Media Talk that he fronts this week.

We start by discussing the Sun's ditching of Labour. Just what is the impact of News International's step to the right? Julian Glover, the Guardian's chief leader writer, and Harry Evans, the legendary former editor of the Sunday Times, give us their differing views.

Also in the podcast, Maggie Brown rants at the farcical goings on in the ITV boardroom, and goes on to express her moderate disgust at another bust-up in the BBC drama department.

Plus, as Richard Bacon looks set to inherit Simon Mayo's slot on BBC Radio 5 Live, Steve Busfield asks, is Bacon really the best DJ station boss Adrian Van Klaveran can find? (Steve's also the chair of the judging panel for the 2010 MediaGuardian Innovation Awards – also known as the Megas – and editing a book on our Wire blogs. Is there anything this man can't do?)

Meanwhile, Jörg Tittel from Tapisodes tells us about creating an iPhone app for the Telegraph's Alex cartoon – and his other plans to drag newspaper art and graphics kicking and screaming into the 21st-century.

Finally, we hear from Tim Haines, creative director of Impossible Pictures, about how ITV's Primeval was saved from extinction – with a bit of help from the BBC.

As always, have a listen and tell us what you think on the blog below or on Facebook. You can also follow us on Twitter.
