Media Talk: press freedom, Harold Evans and Page One

John Plunkett's back in the studio for this week's Media Talk and dealing with issues close to home as Dan Sabbagh explains why the Metropolitan police were forced to abandon their attempts to get Guardian journalists to reveal their sources in relation to the phone-hacking saga.

Next, we hear from Harold Evans, former editor of the Sunday Times, about Rupert Murdoch's future in the British media.

Trevor Dann then joins us to discuss Johann Hari's sojourn to journalism school, and tells us why this year's Radio Festival is shaping up to best so far (probably).

Finally, we catch up with David Carr, salty old hack and reluctant star of the documentary about the New York Times, Page One.
