Media Talk podcast: A new investigation into phone-hacking

In a week initially dominated by football news, it's quite literally a pod of two halves this week as Matt Wells fronts a bumper edition of Media Talk.

We begin with Scotland Yard's confirmation that there will be a new investigation into phone-hacking after the the News of World handed over new evidence to the Met and sacked its news editor, Ian Edmonson. Just how much further does this scandal at the heart of the Murdoch empire have to go – and how will it affect News Corporation's planned takeover of BSkyB? Former News Corp executive and Murdoch aide Andrew Neil gives his thoughts, as does Labour MP Tom Watson, who has helped lead the charge for a further inquiry.

Also in the podcast, we pick over the debris at Bush House and beyond as hundreds of jobs are cut from the World Service and BBC Online.

Finally, we examine the fallout after Andy Gray and Richard Keys suffer the consequences for their sexist jibes, and we pay tribute to Miranda Hart, who won a a hat-trick of gongs at the British Comedy Awards. Just don't ask her to explain the offside rule...
