Media Talk: Channel more? Four's funding gap

On the podcast this week, we read the tea leaves after the speech by Ofcom chief executive Ed Richards to the Royal Television Society. Does it mean that Ofcom and Channel 4 are now in full agreement about the level of the broadcaster's funding shortfall? Does it make top-slicing the licence fee more likely? Does anyone care? Broadcasting consultant Steve Hewlett and MediaGuardian.co.uk's Jemima Kiss are on hand.

Plus, we hear from Richard Madeley about his transfer from Channel 4 to UKTV: "I'll go where the work is," he tells us. Also we talk to the controversial More4 controller Hamish Mykura, who was responsible for The Great Global Warming Swindle.

In a report from Sofia, the Guardian's Helen Pidd talks to a brave Bulgarian journalist about his experiences exposing the Mafia.

John Plunkett
brings a bit of dry wit to bear on the rest of the week's media news, including the shakeup at 5 Live.
