Media campaign in US to dispel Islamophobia

A $50m media campaign is being launched in the USA to overcome widespread anti-Muslim sentiments. The campaign - involving television, radio and newspapers - was announced by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) following a survey conducted by Cornell University which found that around half of Americans have a negative view of Islam. This news was carried on the New Media Journal website with a sting in the tail. An appended Editor's note suggested that CAIR's money would be better spent inside Islamic countries to educate the people on the unacceptability of honour killings, beheadings and "the proliferation of hate and intolerance toward anyone who does not embrace Islam".
