Mechanics refuse to carry out MOT on filthy car filled with discarded cigarette butts

Mechanics refused to carry out an MOT on a vehicle after the inside of the car was left in a state by the owner.

Paisley Autocare MOT shared two pictures of the Ford car that had pulled in for the yearly test earlier this week.

The photos show hundreds of cigarette ends and discarded rolling papers strewn over the floor.

There were also lighters and various other pieces of rubbish left lying around the footwells of the car.

When confronted about the mess in the car, the owner - who has not been named - was reportedly perplexed at their complaints.

Bosses at the garage urged Scots to give their car a once over before sending it in for an MOT.

They captioned the Facebook photos: “All we ask when you have your MOT booked is that your vehicle is fairly clean inside.

“We refused to MOT this vehicle this week. The customer then replied ‘what’s wrong with it?’”

Hundreds of Scots were left dismayed by the state of the car, with more than two thousand people sharing the post on social media.

One wrote: “I think it would fail anyway on infection control issues.”

Another commented: “Jesus, I’d be affronted taking that into a garage”

A third said: “The impulsive part of me wants to clean this car, but the logical part of me want to drive it off a cliff.”
