Mechanical problems delay trains on two Metra lines

Jan. 15--Mechanical problems were being blamed for delays on two Metra lines in the northwest suburbs Thursday morning.

Train 2210 on the Milwaukee District West Line was halted at the National Street station in Elgin, according to a Metra alert. The train's mechanical issues were causing other trains on the line to run up to 50 minutes behind schedule.

Metra changed the schedules for a number of trains to accommodate delayed riders. Train 2216, scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 8:02 a.m., made stops at Itasca, Franklin Park and Western Avenue, according to Metra.

Train 2214, scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 7:57 a.m., was running about 50 minutes behind schedule to pick up commuters for Train 2222, scheduled to depart Elgin at 7:24 a.m. Train 2214 was also making additional stops between Big Timber and Schaumburg.

Train 2212 was running behind schedule after making extra stops to accommodate passengers. The train is running express from Hanover Park to Chicago, according to Metra.

North Central Service Trains 104 and 106 were also making all West Line stops from River Grove to Chicago to accommodate passengers delayed by the Milwaukee District train, according to Metra.
