Meath home worth €355,000 up for grabs in Christmas raffle

One lucky person will receive the Christmas present of a lifetime this year as a stunning Meath home worth €355,000 is being raffled off.

No. 27, The Avenue in the new Royal Oaks estate in Enfield is a 141 sq.m semi detached house with three bedrooms. The property is "low heating, low carbon" and features underfloor heating downstairs.

Tickets for the raffle cost €100 each and the draw will be held on December 19. A maximum of 15,000 tickets will be sold.

The raffle has been organised by the Killeigh Community Centre Development Association from Killeigh, Offaly to help fundraise for a new community centre in the town. The group secured ownership of a hall back in 2020 and planning permission has been granted to redevelop the site into a multi-purpose community centre.

However, funding for the project is needed so the KCCDA have organised the raffle to raise enough money to cover the construction costs. Andrew Nadin, spokesperson the raffle, told Dublin Live that minimum amount of tickets to cover the cost of the house have been sold already so the draw will definitely be going ahead on December 19.

"A ticket for the raffle would make a lovely Christmas present," he said. "A maximum of 15,000 tickets will be sold so your odds of winning are much better than the Lotto."

Andrew said that the winner can choose to take a €300,000 cash prize instead of the home if that suits their circumstances better.

"The KCCDA bought the house themselves so it will then be transferred over to the winner," he said. "But if the person doesn't want the house, they can pick the €300,000 cash alternative instead.

"So you don't have to necessarily be interested in the house, you can still clear your mortgage or other expenses with the cash if you win."

The draw will be conducted on December 19 by drawing a unique membership number from a drum with all unique entries inside. An independent person will draw the winning entry and it will be overseen by an independent adjudicator.
