A GAA club in Co Meath has confirmed that one of its players has tested positive for coronavirus.

Ballinabrackey GAA club have shut down all activities within the club and closed all their pitches and facilities.

They said in a statement: “Ballinabrackey GAA can confirm a positive Covid-19 case in the club.

“We have and continue to follow all relevant guidelines and protocol from the HSE and GAA. We would request understanding in the current situation and a level of respect to both the individual and the club.”

The club have also contacted Duleek/ Bellewstown, who they played in a Championship match last Saturday, and Cortown, who they faced in a league game on Sunday.

A minor game involving the club scheduled for Thursday night has been called off.

It comes as Waterford FC await the result of a test carried out on a player earlier this week.

Two players at the club were tested after reporting coronavirus symptoms, but one of the tests returned a negative result on Wednesday.
