Meat:Stack to reopen in Newcastle's Grainger Market this week

Meat:Stack will reopen its Grainger Market burger bar this week.

The counter was shut along with Meat:Stack's restaurant in the Dog and Parrot at the start of the coronavirus lockdown, but the Newcastle-based independent has confirmed it will reopen in the Grainger Market this week, having already successfully launched a contactless collection service from the Dog and Parrot.

Meat:Stack updated followers on its social media pages to confirm it plans to relaunch its Grainger Market takeaway on Thursday June 11. Initially, the Grainger Market unit will open for limited hours on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Meat:Stack said: "Hours will be reduced and we shall have some social distancing measures in place as well as stricter hygiene practices."

Walk-up customers can order from the Grainger Market in person, while the pre-order collection service will operate from the Dog and Parrot. Visit meat-stack.com to order.

Since launching as 'The Grind' pop-up four years ago, Meat:Stack has earned critical acclaim and a reputation as one of Newcastle's best burger joints.

Meat:Stack's plans to open a new 60-cover restaurant in the Groat Market were approved in February. Initially, it was set to open in April, but the coronavirus pandemic has led to the launch being pushed back.
