All meat products from a producer in Co Westmeath are being urgently recalled as they were processed in an "unapproved facility".

The food safety chiefs have said the accuracy of labelling information provided by JLM Foods and JLM Family Butchers are non-compliant.

The public are being advised not to eat the food products which come from the company on Main Street, Tyrrellspass, Co Westmeath.

The Food safety Authority of Ireland said: "All meat, meat products and meat preparations from JLM Foods and JLM Family Butchers, Main Street, Tyrrellspass, Co. Westmeath are being recalled as they were processed in an unapproved facility, which was not subject to official controls.

"The traceability and accuracy of the labelling information provided is non-compliant."

Retailers are being asked to remove the affected JLM Foods products from the shelves and distributors being told to contact customers.

A statement said: "Retailers are requested to remove the implicated meat, meat products and meat preparations from sale and to display a point-of-sale recall notice in stores where these products were sold.

"Wholesalers/distributors are requested to contact their customers and recall the affected meat, meat products and meat preparations and advise their retail customers to display a point-of-sale recall notice in stores.

"Caterers should not use the implicated meat, meat products and meat preparations."

JLM Foods have been contacted for comment.
