Meal delivery firm bags £3 million investment after hitting two million milestone

Home delivery meals business Parsley Box has raised £3 million in growth capital from Mobeus Equity.

The Edinburgh business has grown turnover to £5 million, delivering two million meals to more than 80,000 customers in just over 18 months.

It employs 25 people and aims to double that in the next 18 months while investing in product development and attracting more customers.

The company is chaired by Kevin Dorren, chief executive of Edinburgh ecommerce firm Move Fresh and Diet Chef, the UK-wide diet food delivery operation.

It was founded in 2017 by Adrienne and Gordon Macaulay when they were trying to find ready meals for Gordon's mother. They had concerns about frozen meals and could not find a suitable delivery service.

Gordon said: “Traditional meal delivery services we saw were both very expensive and suffered from slow delivery. Parsley Box have reinvented the service by offering next day delivery and a wide range of meals for customers just like my mother.”

The investment was led by Mobeus , who have a track record investing in consumer brands.

Investment partner Amit Hindocha said: “Mobeus were impressed with the growth rate that Parsley Box has achieved in a very short time and the real need for a quality elderly nutrition brand for this growing demographic.

“The brand allows Parsley Box customers to remain independent and in their own home while freeing them from the time-consuming preparation of meals.”
