Meadow Lane remains partially closed after roof fire at house

A busy route in Nottingham remains partially closed this morning after a house fire.

Meadow Lane had to be closed between Daleside roundabout and Lady Bay Bridge after the blaze broke out at the property at around 12pm on Thursday, May 27.

In an update this morning (May 28) the road was confirmed to still be closed heading east in this area.

Business owners and shoppers spoke of their shock after the fire, as the service confirmed no one had been in the property at the time.

Nottingham Travelwise tweeted: "Meadow Lane remains closed this morning to eastbound traffic from Daleside Road to Lady Bay bridge due to fire yesterday.

"Police remain on scene. please use alternative route."

Seven fire crews were called to the scene and used an aerial ladder to pump water into the property and extinguish the fire.

The flat, which is located above Dee's Flavour takeaway, had its roof taken off by the force of the fire.
