Me Being Me Is Exactly as Insane as You Being You by Todd Hasak-Lowy - review

Todd Hasak-Lowy, Me Being Me is Exactly as Insane as You Being You

Although the title of this book is a mouthful, let me assure you that it is packed with excitement and adventure and will surely keep you hooked.

This book is about a boy named Darren who tells his story and expresses his feelings about his father telling him a shocking secret. As if his parents getting a divorce wasn't enough to handle already, Darren must now deal with the consequences and the aftermath of his father's decision. From then on we learn about anything and everything that Darren goes through. He has to experience firsthand how drastically and suddenly his entire family have changed and that nothing will be the way it was before.

But then there is some hope for Darren once he gets close to Zoey Lovell, the extraordinary and unique girl who draws patterns on his arm and believes that she belongs on a far away fantasy land, not on Earth. The way this book changed its plot suddenly from the middle reminds me of the storyline of Paper Towns by John Green. To find out what I mean, you absolutely need to read this book.

It is a very fast-paced and enjoyable read and definitely a must for those who want a change in their reading pattern. This is because this book consists entirely of lists and therefore, although there are 600 or so pages, it can be read very quickly. Perfect if you're suffering from a reading slump and need something to help you get back to reading.

Todd Hasak-Lowy leaves a lasting impression on the reader because not only is Darren a fun character, he is also very relatable, especially when it comes to teenagers. Expect to read about high school crushes, drugs, loneliness and a drastic need for a change. Trust me, this book is really worth picking up. I highly recommend it to any teenager as well as those in college and university. It is a fun and easy read which adds to its charm.
