Craig McRae has re-signed for two years, taking the Collingwood premiership coach through to the end of the 2028 AFL season.

The announcement was made on the evening of the club's annual general meeting.

McRae, 52, secured his first senior coaching role at the Magpies and has been in charge since 2022.

Collingwood made the preliminary final that season and the following year narrowly beat Brisbane for their first premiership since 2010.

After missing the finals last year, Collingwood lost their preliminary final this year to the Lions, who went on to win back-to-back premierships.

"Craig has built a philosophy centred on connection, resilience and getting better every day," club president Barry Carp said in a statement.

"Under his leadership, the club has reconnected with its people, honoured its history and brought the Magpie Army along the journey, highlighted by our unforgettable 2023 premiership.

"Internally, Craig drives our family-first value and connection between players and staff while emphasising the importance of extending that connection with our 19th player - Collingwood members and supporters."

McRae was a three-time premiership player at Brisbane and worked in a variety of assistant coaching roles from 2007 before landing the main job at Collingwood.

Also at the AGM, life memberships were awarded to 2023 premiership players Will Hoskin-Elliott, Jeremy Howe and Oleg Markov, as well as football department staffer Mick Dugina, who retired this year, and former player and board member Brian McKenzie.
