McLaren have announced their withdrawal from the Australian Grand Prix after confirming that a member of staff has tested positive for coronavirus.
In a statement released on Thursday, the British-based team announced that CEO Zak Brown and team principal Andreas Seidl had informed Formula One and the FIA that they would no longer be taking part at the 2020 curtain-raiser in Melbourne.
McLaren said the unidentified team member was "tested and self-isolated as soon as they started to show symptoms" and will now enter a period of quarantine.
"The team is cooperating with the relevant local authorities to assist their investigations and analysis," the statement read.
On their decision to withdraw, McLaren added: "The decision has been taken based on a duty of care not only to McLaren F1 employees and partners, but also to the team’s competitors, Formula 1 fans and wider F1 stakeholders."
