A member of the brand's Sport Series family gains more power and the 'Longtail' body treatment.

This isn’t a replacement for the 675LT, right?
That’s right. The new McLaren 600LT, seen here in official pictures, is based upon the 570S belonging to the brand’s Sport Series family.
Essentially a lighter and more hardcore version of the 570S, the 600LT is the latest McLaren to gain the ‘Longtail’ treatment after the 675LT boasting a longer rear bulkhead behind the cabin.
The carbonfibre body is said to be 74mm longer than that of the donor car and some 23% of parts are different in the 600LT.
The 675LT, built three years ago in limited numbers, is actually a member of McLaren’s Super Series range of sports car built on the credentials of the now-defunct 650S.

Is the dietary regime the same?
Broadly speaking, yes. McLaren says 96kg of weight has been shed from the 570S for the birth of the 600LT. Weight-saving measures include carbonfibre seats and shorter exhausts, as such, to make the 600LT tip the scales at just 1,247kg.
Speaking of the tail pipes, they exit on the top of the rear bumper just behind the engine compartment. A freer flowing exhaust is also responsible for the slight power increase the 600LT gets over the 570S.
As the badge indicates, the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 in the 600LT produces 600hp representing a 30hp increase. It’s equipped with the brand’s sole seven-speed dual-clutch automatic driving just the rear wheels.
McLaren has yet to reveal performance figures for the 600LT, but the 0-100kph time should be better than the 570S’s time of 3.2sec.
Although McLaren has already employed a new 4.0-litre V8 version to the latest 720S, candidates of the Sport Series must still be content with the smaller 3.8-litre unit.

What is the 600LT aimed at?
There is no direct rival for the 600LT when it comes to the game of supercars. At just over 20 million baht, the 600LT could be considered as a pure driver’s car for people finding the Ferrari 488 Pista and Lamborghini Huracan Performante a little too excessive and expensive.
Actually, the Pista and Performante are basically the competitors for the 675LT with their identical 0-100kph times of 2.9sec in the 30 million baht price bracket.
McLaren’s turn in upstaging these two specific opponents would most likely come in the form of a more focused variant of today’s 720S, although that should still be some years away.
