McLaren driver Lando Norris could miss Belgian Grand Prix after running injury

Lando Norris is facing a race against time to be fully fit for this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix after the British teenager sustained a foot injury while on holiday.

The 19-year-old was seen wearing a supportive brace on his left leg during a live video stream as he raced online last night.

Norris' McLaren team insists the protective boot is a "precautionary measure" and are confident he will race this weekend, but the rookie admitted to being in pain.

"I have got my leg support on (and) I am dying," said Norris, who attended the Moto GP at Silverstone on Sunday.

"I did so much walking today, and I am injured. It frickin' hurts."

Norris even joked that he would have to wear the protective boot while racing at Spa-Francorchamps, the longest, and one of the most demanding tracks on the calendar this weekend. Norris is due to be back in the car in just four days' time for practice.

The English novice has been on holiday in Croatia during Formula One's summer shutdown, and McLaren say he inflamed a tendon while running.

Norris has impressed during his maiden grand prix season, and, earlier this summer, it was confirmed he will continue to drive for McLaren next year.

The season resumes on Sunday, with Lewis Hamilton 62 points clear in the championship ahead of the final nine rounds.
