McInnes addresses heated exchange with ref after Rangers draw, reveals further talks

Derek McInnes has addressed his exchange with referee Nick Walsh after Rangers drew with Dundee United.

The Ibrox boss marched onto the pitch at full-time, where he could be seen in a heated discussion with the match official.

McInnes had felt his side should have been awarded a corner instead of a goal kick in the closing stages of the match.

The manager had looked confused after Walsh pointed for a goal kick.

However, McInnes has admitted he shouldn't have gone onto the pitch as he revealed a talk with Walsh after the match.

"Yeah, I was thinking that," said the Rangers manager when asked whether the non-corner decision influenced his discussion with Walsh.

"I spoke to the referee and said that I shouldn’t have approached him on the pitch.

"I don’t know. It just looked like a corner, even from the player's reaction.

"But I shouldn’t have approached the ref on the pitch; I should've approached him in the referee room, as I did do at the end."
