McFly's Tom Fletcher breaks silence after Strictly Come Dancing Covid bombshell

Strictly Come Dancing's Tom Fletcher has broken his silence after pulling out of this week's show.

The McFly musician and his dancing partner tested positive for coronavirus and were forced to miss out on the BBC One competition.

The dad-of-three, 36, health went downhill and he was unable to play at McFly's gig at Glasgow's SSE Hydro show on Sunday.

Amy spoke out on the positive result and said: "Unfortunately Tom and I have tested positive for Covid-19.

"I'm not suffering any symptoms but am now isolating at home.

"I have no doubt that over the next 10 days my mind will be going crazy with choreography ideas ready to get back on the Strictly dance floor for the live show in week 3.

"Thank you for all of the support and good luck to all of the couples this week. I will be cheering you all on."

Tom sent out a message to dancing partner Amy Dowden and said: "Rest up partner. We've got to pull something special out of the bag for week 3."

A BBC spokesperson said: "Tom Fletcher and Amy Dowden have tested positive for Covid-19.

"The pair are now self-isolating separately following the latest government guidelines.

"While they will both miss Saturday’s live show, Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that all being well, they will return the following week.”

Tom appeared on Strictly last night for his dancefloor debut with professional partner Amy Dowden on the first live show of the new series.

The duo danced the cha cha cha to September by Earth Wind and Fire.
