McFly lost deposit after trashing rented house in outrageous paint fight

Giovanna Fletcher has spilled the beans that McFly once lost the deposit of their house when they trashed it with a game of indoor paintballing.

Pop-punk band McFly may have been around for decades, but the band consisting of Tom Fletcher, Harry Judd, Danny Jones and Dougie Poynter were just young teens when they burst onto the music scene in 2004.

While 36-year-old I’m A Celeb star Giovanna has known the boys for as long as they have been in the charts after dating band frontman Tom, 35, who she wed in 2012.

Thinking back to knowing the boys at the outset of their career, Giovanna says they ended up being charged a pretty penny when they decided to play extreme sports in their rented accommodation.

She told Jamie Laing and Francis Boulle’s Private Parts podcast: “Essentially they were students with money.

“I went to bed early and I remember being woken up by the guys. They had bought paint guns and they were having a paintball fight in the house.

“They were running around. I was like, ‘Oh, my God’. But those were the fun times.”

She explained: “This was a rented house. Needless to say they did not get the deposit back.

“They had to pay majorly.”

Giovanna and Tom are parents to three boys of their own; seven-year-old Buzz, five-year-old Buddy and two-year-old Max.

The family have been enjoying watching Tom in Gary Barlow’s new BBC TV show, I’m With The Band.

The music social sees Take That star Gary creating a super-band with Tom and other singers including Mica Paris, James Bay and Jamie Cullum and is loosely based on the crooner sessions Gary held with celebs during lockdown.

Gary previously said of the show, which aired last night: “A key reason for me doing this show for BBC1 was that I just wanted to get in a room with a load of people I love and respect and play music.

“We’re aiming to give artists a platform and place where they can perform and have fun. It’s simply a musical treat for everyone who loves watching the best musicians perform-ing great songs from any genre and any decade.”
