In the nine years since McFly were last a fourpiece, they admit, they’ve had an affair.
After teaming up with synchronised jumpers Busted to form McBusted, Harry Judd admits their personal relationships were “in the worst place they had been in the entire 13 years we’d known each other” when the supergroup disbanded in 2015.
“There was this kind of unspoken jealousy of things,” adds Harry.
“Cracks were appearing,” admits Dougie Poynter. “It caused resentment... jealousy.”
“It’s like a marriage and a bit like we had an affair and we didn’t really know how to get through that,” explains Tom Fletcher.
“We had some marriage counselling, saw some other people for a while - but ultimately we didn’t get divorced.”
Now the group are reforming for a one-off gig at London’s O2 on November 20.
“It feels like renewing our vows,” adds Tom.
Excellent use of this extended metaphor, guys.
And in case anyone was wondering why it’s just one gig, Danny Jones explains: “The aim is not to p*** off the wives or girlfriends.”
