McDonalds reopens first drive-thru in Nottinghamshire today

The wait for a Big Mac is over with a McDonald's drive-thru reopening in Nottinghamshire today - but it is a long drive unless you live in the north of the county.

The fast-food restaurant at Markham Moor roundabout, Retford, is the first to reopen in the county.

The drive-thru is one of 168 locations in the UK and Ireland to reopen today - a further 22 have opened for McDelivery but none of those are in Notts.

A spokesperson said: "We are glad to be back but it will look a little different and may take a little longer, so please bear with us.

"We’re delighted to be returning to communities across the UK and Ireland, thank you for your continued support and patience. We look forward to seeing you soon."

There are fewer employees in the kitchen to enable staff to social distance and work safely and there's a limited menu with no breakfast or milkshakes for now.

Opening hours are reduced, currently 11am to 10pm, and contactless payment is encouraged, with a maximum £25 spend.

Anyone visiting the drive-thru is urged to browse the menu, order and pay ahead using the My McDonald’s App and they'll start preparing your order when you’re near the restaurant.
