McDonalds makes huge change to rewards app with more freebies up for grabs

McDonald's has shaken up its rewards scheme and now, customers have more chances to get their hands on free food.

The MyMcDonald's Rewards Menu has been expanded from Monday June 10, and it now includes a new points milestone with four tasty offerings up for grabs - the McMuffin, McSpicy, Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese and the McCrispy.

When a customer reaches 5,500 Rewards points, they'll be able to claim any of these items from the menu. And as well as this, the Rewards levels already on the app have been expanded.

Wales Online reports that along with all their usual favourites, customers can now also redeem a regular Cold Soft Drink, an Apple Pie or a Filet-O-Fish when collecting Rewards points via the McDonald’s App.

Customers who are opted in to MyMcDonald’s Rewards and order and pay through the McDonald’s App will automatically earn points on their order – this includes McDelivery when ordered via the app.

Or, customers can receive a one-time code in the ‘code’ section of the app when they begin their order at a Drive-Thru, Kiosk or Counter, and this will build their points.

When 1,500 points are collected, customers can take their pick from items such as a hash brown, small fries or a regular cold soft drink.

Then 2,500 points can be exchanged for a Double Cheeseburger, Vegetable Deluxe or Apple Pie, and when this reaches 4,000 points, customers can choose from classic favourites like Chicken McNuggets or a Big Mac.

Customers also have the choice to donate their points as cash to charities BBC Children in Need, FareShare and Ronald McDonald House to support McDonalds with the work they do with the organisations.

You can start building up your points by downloading the McDonald's App here, creating an account and opting into MyMcDonald's Rewards.
