McDonald's in Stockport opened on Christmas Day to feed the homeless... one six-year-old's kindness was incredible

While most kids her age were at home opening their presents, one kindhearted youngster was helping to serve up Christmas Day breakfast to the homeless.

McDonald's at Merseyway Shopping Centre in Stockport opened its doors on Christmas morning to the lonely and vulnerable, offering free bacon rolls and brews from 8am to 9am.

Around 10 to 15 people turned up, before the team of staff - every single one of whom volunteered their time - went out to deliver more hot food, mince pies and donated duvets.

Among the volunteers was six-year-old Amelia-Grace, whose dad Kevin Buckley is assistant manager at the Stockport franchise.

He said he was incredibly proud of his daughter, who wanted to keep helping even after they had finished for the day.

"It was a fantastic day," Kevin said.

"We had a large number of staff turn up to help and our franchisee Stuart Broadbelt supported us as well.

"My daughter Amelia-Grace stole the show as she gave out stuff to the homeless without any worry.

"She made me very, very proud and even after finishing she asked if we could do more so we drove back to Chorlton and gave out the remaining duvets and mince pies to people there."

Kevin said the duvets were given to them by the McDonald's in Ashton-under-Lyne after the restaurant - which was also open on Christmas Day - was inundated with donations.

The volunteers also gave out bags containing a selection box, toiletries, hat and scarf which had been donated by a member of the public.
