McDonald's wants to open another restaurant in Mansfield - creating nearly 70 jobs

McDonald's wants to open another new restaurant in Mansfield in a move which could create nearly 70 jobs.

A drive-thru restaurant, with parking spaces, is planned on undeveloped land at the Sherwood Oaks Business Park, off Oakleaf Close.

Plans submitted to Mansfield District Council to create a single storey eatery have revealed up to 65 jobs could be created.

A McDonald's spokeswoman said: "We are pleased to be working with a developer on our application for a new drive-thru restaurant in Sherwood Oaks Business Park in Mansfield, which would create at least 65 full and part-time jobs in the area and bring significant investment to the local community.”

If approved, the restaurant would add to existing McDonald's restaurants in West Gate, in Mansfield town centre, and at Mansfield Leisure Park, off the A60 Nottingham Road.

Elsewhere, there are other restaurants in Sutton-in-Ashfield in Priestsic Road and Kings Mill Road East.

It comes after Nottinghamshire Live revealed the fast food giant wanted to open a new restaurant on part of the Asda car park, in Forest Town.

The latest plans have been submitted to Mansfield District Council for consideration.

More than 30 customer car parking facilities are expected to serve the restaurant.

And a small outdoor children's climbing frame forms part of the plans near the entrance.

Planning documents state: "The proposed drive through format restaurant at Sherwood Oaks will complement rather than compete with this already available offer.

"It will meet demand from those who work and/or live in the south west of Mansfield, those already visiting the variety of other units nearby within Sherwood Oaks Business Park, and passing traffic on the A6191 Southwell Road West."

The plans add the restaurant would site in a "major employment zone" next to an Aldi supermarket.

Planning documents add: "McDonald’s is committed to securing jobs for local people and with the exception of the management team, almost all of these jobs are expected to be recruited from the local community.

"In addition to these positions, further jobs will be created during the construction process and through the supply chain."
