McDonald's unveil new cheese sharebox - and it will stay on the menu forever

Move over nuggets, there's a new sharebox in town, and it's full of glorious melted cheese.

As McDonald's has just announced that they're launching a brand new cheese bites sharebox - and its set to be a permanent item on the menu.

However, the flavours of the cheese bites inside will change every six weeks, with the Cheese and Herb melts up first.

Returning to the McDonald's menu for the first time in over a year, loyal fans of the fast food chain may recognise the indulgent side, which is made from a tasty blend of Emmental and Mozzarella cheese in a herb-infused breadcrumb, and then served with a rich tomato dip.

Is it wrong that we wouldn't share these with anyone? (McDonald's)

Costing £4.49 for the sharing platter (read: cardboard box), you get 15 gloriously gooey cheese bites as well as three dips - the same price as a 20-piece nuggets sharebox.

If like Joey you don't share your food, you can also pick up an individual portion for £1.69, which gets you five cheese bites plus one dip, working out at 34p per piece compared to the sharebox's 30p.

Set to hit McDonald's restaurants all across the nation from next Wednesday (25th September), they'll be available to order as soon as breakfast is over at 10.30am (or 11am, if your local is one of the 122 stores with the extended hours).

Fingers crossed the Mexicana cheese bites make a comeback too (McDonald's)

News of the launch follows a successful trail of the cheese sharebox during last year's FIFA World Cup, in which McDonald's released the cheese bites for McDelivery restaurants only.

Unsurprisingly, they proved very popular, so are now making their first foray into all McDonald's restaurants next week, with no end date in sight. Phew!
