Three men caught in a McDonald's drive-thru 100 miles away from their homes have each been hit with a £200 coronavirus fine.
And one of the group had his Mercedes seized by officers, after he was caught driving with a smashed front screen and no wipers, reports Derbyshire Live.
Priti Patel warned during a Downing Street press conference on Tuesday that officers would be faster in issuing fines as the pandemic reached a 'critical point'.
Under lockdown rules, all non-essential travel is banned and everyone has been urged to 'stay home'.
Officers spotted a car pulling into one of the fast-food giant's restaurants at Horns Bridge Roundabout in Chesterfield, on Monday (January 11).
The group admitted travelling more than a 100-mile round trip from Lancashire and Leicestershire to meet at the drive-thru.
Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit tweeted: "Chesterfield. Three friends visiting the very well-known exercise location of McDonald's at Hornsbridge.
"Two from Leicestershire and one from Lancashire. Smashed front screen and no wipers.
"Prohibited from further movement. Covid tickets. #PG9 #StayHome"
It's not the first trip to McDonald's that has proved costly during the third national lockdown.
A woman desperate for a burger also drove 100 miles to get a McDonald's meal at the weekend.
North Yorkshire Police issued a £200 fixed penalty notice to the motorist, in her 30s, on Saturday after she drove from Lincolnshire to Scarborough with her sister for the burger meal.
Chief Inspector Rachel Wood, from North Yorkshire Police, said: "Driving through three counties to get a burger is not classed as essential travel.
"Most people in North Yorkshire are trying really hard to stop the spread of Covid in our communities and protect the vulnerable.
"When this pandemic is over, we know everyone's looking forward to going where they want, when they want.
