McDonald's Special Sauce dipping pots for sale in Northern Ireland for the first time

McDonald’s famed Special Sauce is on sale in dipping pots for the first time today.

The limited edition pots cost 50p for 50mls in their 26 restaurants across Northern Ireland.

Earlier this year McDonald's announced it would be selling single pots of its famous Big Mac Special Sauce and the news sent their fans old and new into a spin, turning the release date into a hot topic.

And this batch is only expected to last six weeks with exceptional demand.

So when it’s gone, it’s gone and the burger bosses expect the hashtag #MacItBetter to spin the sauce lovers into a frenzy.

Michelle Graham-Clare, Vice President Food & Marketing, McDonald’s UK & Ireland, said: “For years, customers have been desperate to get their hands on the world-famous Special Sauce, many have attempted to recreate it at home to no avail. So we are delighted to finally bring these dipping pots to the UK and Ireland. We are looking forward to seeing the imaginative ways our customers attempt to ‘Mac It Better’ in kitchens across the UK, by adding our iconic Special Sauce to their breakfast, lunch and dinner.”

The Special Sauce has been pretty much the same since 1972, although the recipe was tweaked slightly between 1991 and 2004.

A spokesman for the fast food company said: “Customers are encouraged to take them home and add the Special Sauce to their favourite home cooked meals.

“The highly anticipated launch of Big Mac® Special Sauce dipping pots are hitting McDonald’s across the UK and Ireland at 5am and are expected to sell-out quickly.

“The ingredients and quantities have always been a closely guarded secret. With millions of people trying to recreate the taste in their own kitchens - you can now take the taste of McDonald’s home.

“A limited run of the pots will go on sale and are expected to quickly sell-out, so restaurant staff prepared for bulk orders and big queues.

“The 50ml pots will retail for 50p each, will be available 24 hours a day and have a seven-day shelf life.”
