Fans were devastated when McDonald's closed their doors last week amid coronavirus lockdown.

Many people have been pining for their fast-food fix, with some even flogging burgers online for eye-watering amounts after restaurants temporarily shut down.

But if you are missing the famous golden arches and feel like getting creative in the kitchen, McDonald's have the perfect solution.

You can recreate a mouth-watering sausage and egg McMuffin that looks and tastes just like the real thing without leaving the house.

Fans have already expressed how much they long for the McDonald's favourite, with one tweeting "Didn't think I'd miss sausage and egg McMuffins this much".

Elsewhere another fan tweeted a photo of their own creation of the breakfast classic.

McDonald's easy-to-follow recipe calls for just a few ingredients - which hopefully will be in stock at your nearest supermarket.

A delicious combination of pork patty, egg, a toasted English bun and even a home-made hash brown, nothing beats this breakfast classic.

Here's how you can whip up your the much-loved Mcdonald's breakfast while restaurants are closed:

Ingredients

  • English Muffin

  • 75g Sausage Meat

  • Eggs

  • American Cheese Slice

  • Potato

How do you make it?

Season the sausage meat with a pinch of salt and pepper then shape into balls. Flatten into patty shapes and cook under a pre-heated grill for 6-7 minutes on each side.

Brush the inside of a metal ring with a little oil and place in a small frying pan. Pour in just enough water to cover the base then bring to the boil. Crack the eggs into the rings, cover the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes.

Assemble your McMuffin by layering the patty and egg on top of a slice of cheese.

To make a hash brown, grate the potato into a bowl. Mix in an egg then season with salt and pepper. Heat a glug of oil in a pan then add spoonful of the mix. Flatten and cook until golden brown on both sides.
