McDonald's sets date for return of Monopoly - prizes include year of free food

McDonald's has revealed its popular Monopoly game promotion will be returning this summer after a lengthy break - with prizes including a year's worth of free food.

The competition was cancelled last year due to the ongoing pandemic but will be available this year in all UK restaurants from August 25.

Players get the chance to win instant prizes, or claim bigger jackpots by collecting famous London road including Mayfair and Fleet Street.

This year, 1000 lucky McDonald's customers will become instant VIPs when they receive one of the first ever UK McDonald’s VIP Gold Cards.

The card will entitle them to a free medium Maccies meal from their local restaurant every week for an entire year.

This year's Monopoly was originally due to take place in July, but was delayed mid-production, after more than 200 million game pieces had already been printed and dated.

The pieces will be reused, so customers are being urged to head to the McDonald's website to check the dates of their prizes to make sure they don't miss out.
