McDonald's reveals when it will reopen for walk-in customers - and breakfast menu to return

McDonald's has revealed it will soon start reopening non-drive thru restaurants for takeaway customers.

Drive-thru and delivery services have reopened throughout the country since the lockdown started, including many in the North East, but walk-up only restaurants, like the McDonald's in Northumberland Street, have remained closed since March 23.

McDonald's says it will begin reopening takeaway restaurants from June 17, starting with sites at Roadchef service stations.

Then, from June 24, McDonald's will begin reopening its takeaway restaurants in towns and cities across the country.

McDonald's has also confirmed when it will expand menus to reintroduce breakfast items.

McDonald's said: "From June 24, a number of restaurants will test the return of breakfast service.

"If successful, we hope to reintroduce the much-missed McMuffin across the UK and Ireland later in July.

"We will confirm which restaurants nearer the time."
