McDonald's responds to report restaurants will reopen in May

McDonald’s has responded to reports that the fast food giant is planning to reopen restaurants in the UK by mid-May.

The Irish Farmers Journal reported that whilst the original plan was to open stores in July, the company has now brought the date forward.

There was also the suggestion that food would start with delivery and drive-throughs, before restaurants opened.

This comes after French outlets of the fast food chain opened for drive-through only.

But taking to Facebook, McDonald's offered no official date of when it plans to reopen restaurants.

The company said: "Well, our notifications are going wild tonight – we miss you too.

"We promise we will update you here as soon as we have confirmed our plans.

"Stay safe, stay at home and we will see you soon."

When a user responded asking for specific information, McDonald's said: "When we have confirmed plans, we’ll be updating restaurants and employees via Our Lounge. We have no confirmed plans at this time."
