McDonald's removes two popular vegetarian options from menus

McDonald's has issued an apology to customers after many complained they were unable to purchase vegetarian options at its restaurants.

The fast-food chain, which has 89 branches across Wales, offers both Veggie Dippers and the Vegetable Deluxe burger.

McDonald's is currently running a reduced menu due to the coronavirus crisis, but Veggie Dippers have been available in restaurants since June.

However, in the last few days many McDonald's fans have complained they've been unable to get their hands on them.

Posting on social media, one person asked the chain: "@McDonaldsUK what's happened with the veggie dippers?! I can't find any anywhere?"

While a second questioned "@McDonaldsUK why no vegetarian options?! What's going on??"

And another added: "Second trip to @McDonaldsUK and they've had no vegetarian options and no explanation. Each time my sister's been stuck only with a portion of fries where the rest of us had a meal."

McDonald's has now confirmed the Veggie Dippers and the Vegetable Deluxe burger, which is made from the dippers, are currently unavailable after temporarily being taken off the menu.

A spokesperson told Wales Online: "Due to an issue resulting in some of our Veggie Dippers having not met the high standards that we expect from our products, we have temporarily removed them from our menu.

"We are working hard to return our Dippers to the menu as quickly as possible, and apologise to our customers for any disappointment caused."
