Fast food favourite McDonald’s says it has no confirmed date for reopening in the UK yet.
Reports in the Irish Farmers Journal claims the chain was planning to start reopening its restaurants in the UK and Ireland by mid-May.
Hopes had also been raised after McDonald’s reopened some of its French outlets for drive-through only.
But McDonald's UK has responded to the reports, saying: "We have no plans to reopen at this stage and our restaurants and Drive Thru will remain closed.
"When we do have plans to reopen, we’ll be making announcements via our social media channels and our website.
Any reopening process would start slowly, with food only available via delivery or from drive-throughs.
McDonald's closed restaurants on March 23 in an effort to slow the spread of coronavirus.
It initially planned to keep serving people takeaways, McDelivery orders and from drive throughs, but shut completely to protect staff.
"This is not a decision we are taking lightly, but one made with the well-being and safety of our employees in mind as well as in the best interests of our customers," a statement at the time explained.
"We will work with local community groups to responsibly distribute food and drink from our restaurants in the coming days."
But since it closed, a number of rivals have been cautiously opening up stores again.
So far KFC, Nandos, Five Guys, Pret and more have all said some branches would open to the public again.
However, all put heavy restrictions in place, including operating for delivery-only or just near NHS sites.
In France, people queued for hours to be able to order Big Macs again from one of the reopened restaurants.
To help keep safe, staff were spotted wearing face masks as well as refusing cash payments.
Out of 1,490 McDonald's restaurants in France, just 30 of them reopened their drive through service.
