McDonald's order loophole that gets McChicken Sandwich for third of the price

McDonald’s customers can pick up a McChicken Sandwich for a third of the usual price - depending on how they place their order. Whether it’s a quick lunch or an easy dinner, there’s a clever way to get more bang for your buck.

This Monday, shoppers can snap up a bargain on the popular menu item for £1.39 - a huge £2.80 saving. But the price won’t automatically change at the till. There’s something you’ll have to do first to get the deal.

The offer is available exclusively on the McDonald’s app and can be accessed by opting into MyMcDonald’s Rewards.

The scheme means every penny spent equals one Rewards point, so this week’s offer will get you 139 points when picking up a McChicken Sandwich.

There are some amazing rewards available for customers to treat themselves to when point milestones are hit. When customers reach 1,500 points, they can choose between menu items including small fries, a hash brown, or a side salad. With 2,500 points, a double cheeseburger or vegetable deluxe is on the cards. Finally, with 4,000 points, customers can choose between menu favourites like 6 chicken McNuggets or a Big Mac.

There is also an option for customers to donate the cash equivalent of their rewards points to BBC Children in Need, FareShare and Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Of course, the McDonald’s app isn’t the only way you can save money at the fast food chain. Sometimes, it just depends on which branch you visit.

For example, in Manchester city centre, we found our order to be 10p cheaper at St Ann’s Square than it was at Piccadilly Gardens - as a result, you could save money by researching the prices at your nearest McDonald’s and shopping at the cheapest one.

And other shoppers have shared their top tips for saving money at McDonald’s, too, with TikTok user Ashley Osbourne revealing to his followers how to get eight chicken nuggets for less than the price of six. You just have to be clever about how you input your order.

Ordering on one of the in-store touch screens, Ashley said: “Another McDonald’s hack you all need to know about. A large six chicken nugget meal is £6, but if you get two chicken nugget happy meals you’ll get two drinks, two fries and eight nuggets for cheaper.”

On the screen, it displayed the price of the large chicken nuggets meal to be £6.09, compared to the cost of two happy meals, which would come in at £5.98 - a total saving of 11p per order and essentially making two of the chicken nuggets completely free.

If it is a cheap McChicken Sandwich that takes your fancy, though, the deal is exclusively available on the McDonald’s App and customers can start earning points on all orders by downloading via Google Play or the Apple App Store here, signing up and opting into MyMcDonald’s Rewards.
