McDonald's Monopoly starts soon with new VIP Gold Card Prize up for grabs

Fast food giant McDonald's has announced the return of its hugely popular Monopoly promotion from Wednesday, August 25 and this year winners could get their hands on a brand new and exclusive prize - a VIP Gold Card.

After a two-and-a-half-year hiatus, McDonald’s signature game is back offering a thousand customers the chance to win the brand new, never-before-seen VIP Gold Card.

McDonald's said: "The winners of these Gold Cards will receive the ultimate VIP treatment, not only winning epic bragging rights but the lucky 1,000 will also be able to claim a free medium meal every week from their local restaurant for a whole 12 months."

The VIP Gold Card is an instant win item and will be awarded as vouchers on the My McDonald’s App.

Winners will be entitled to one free medium meal every week for 52 weeks from the date they redeem the vouchers, reports

However, there is a warning for players this year.

The game was initially planned to come back in March 2021, however, it was postponed due to Covid-19 restrictions and restaurant closures.

Due to the postponement mid-production, packaging with over 200 million Monopoly game pieces had already been printed and dated. McDonald’s, however, has repurposed this packaging with the outdated game pieces to ensure the Monopoly promotion could return for customers as soon as it was safe to do so in August.

As the game pieces will include the incorrect expiry dates, McDonald’s is urging customers to check the dates on the McDonald’s website so they don’t lose out on the chance to win one of the extraordinary prizes.

McDonald's said: "Whether you are Monopoly maverick or a seasoned property-collecting strategist, just pass GO, head down to your nearest McDonald’s restaurant and start playing from 25th August for the chance to win.”
