McDonald's manager raided flats across Leeds - and even slept in one for the night

A McDonald's manager who raided flats in Leeds and stole a neighbour's spare keys before spending the night in her property has been jailed.

Sven Landsherr stole post and parcels from the communal areas of flats on several occasions.

At around 5.30am on September 1 last year, the 31-year-old dad was caught on CCTV stealing post in the mail room of a block of flats at Manor Mills in Ingram Street after getting in through broken garage door shutters.

Prosecutor Katy Varlow said Landsherr caused £200 worth of damage to the mailboxes.

Ten days later, he sneaked into one of his neighbours' flats on Winrose Approach in Belle Isle while the door was open and she was moving out.

Leeds Crown Court heard he stole a spare set of keys and let himself in after she had left for the night.

When the victim returned the following day, she discovered the shower had been used and a cigarette butt left in it.

Two bottles of Baileys, some chocolate and letters had been stolen.

Miss Varlow said Landsherr approached the woman as she was waiting for crime scene investigation officers to arrive and suggested he knew who was responsible for the break in.

Landsherr's DNA was found on the cigarette butt and he was arrested.

On March 24, Landsherr got into the foyer of flats in Neville Street, Leeds, and stole a parcel containing a £1,500 Dell laptop.

He later returned the laptop after his photograph was released in a police appeal for information.

Landsherr, of no fixed abode, admitted three charges of burglary and one charge of criminal damage.

He has two previous convictions for burglaries of communal areas of flats.

Philip Mahoney, mitigating, said his client worked for McDonald's and was a shift manager at the fast food chain.

Mr Mahoney said Landsherr has psychological problems and is remorseful.

He said Landsherr's partner would often kick him out of their home.

Judge Simon Batiste jailed Landsherr for 22 months.
