McDonald's launches Big Mac Special Sauce dipping pots in the UK for the first time

McDonald's Big Mac Special Sauce is available in dipping pots for the first time in the UK.

Customers have never previously been able to buy the sauce, usually found in Big Mac burgers, separately.

Currently, fast-food fans are able to get standard 20ml McDonald's sauces for free, including ketchup, BBQ, sweet and sour and sweet curry.

From Wednesday, February 12, however, McDonald's customers will be able to buy a 50ml Big Mac Special Sauce dipping pot for just 50p.

The new release means fans will be able to have the special sauce with anything from fries to McNuggets, not just burgers.

Those interested will have to be quick when the sauce goes on sale, though.

McDonald's say the dipping pots are expected to sell out quickly and will be available for a limited time only.

McDonald's said: "A limited run of the pots will go on sale and is expected to quickly sell out with restaurant staff prepped for bulk orders and big queues.

"The 50ml pots will retail for 50p each, will be available 24 hours a day, have a seven-day shelf life and when they’re gone, they’re gone!"

The Special Sauce has been the same since 1972, although the recipe was tweaked slightly between 1991 and 2004.

In 2016, a 740ml McDonald's Big Mac Special Sauce bottle sold for £65,000 on eBay.

The bottle was auctioned off by the fast-food chain for charity, and it was the last time customers in the UK could get their hands on the stuff - apart from in a burger.
