McDonald's is making some big changes to its menu next year - it's bound to divide people

McDonald's has revealed that next year, for the first time ever, it will be launching an entirely vegan menu.

From 2 January, hardcore vegans and those giving Veganuary a bash will be able to get their hands on veggie dippers - which are filled with red pepper rice, tomato pesto and split pea mix.

The Vegan Society has also approved the new veggie dippers, as McDonald's has confirmed that they will be made separately from any products containing meat and dairy, so there will be no risk of contamination.

Speaking about the menu changes, Thomas O’Neill, Head of Food Marketing at McDonald’s UK & Ireland, said: ‘In the last 12 months we’ve seen an 80% uplift in customers ordering vegetarian options at McDonald’s, so it is time for the brand famous for the dippable McNugget to launch a dippable option for our vegetarian, vegan and flexitarian customers.

"The Veggie Dippers are a delicious addition to our menu and we’re looking forward to seeing what customers make of our first vegan Extra Value Meal and Happy Meal in the New Year."

The veggie dippers will be available as both a single menu item and as a meal.

Four individual dippers will set you back £3.29, or you can get a medium meal for £4.99.

The dippers will also be available as part of a happy meal, which is set to cost the reasonable price of £2.99.

McDonald's will launch its new veggie dipper meals on 2 January 2020.
