McDonald's is giving out free cheeseburgers on its app - here's how to get yours

While restaurants all across the country fight it out to make the UK's best burger , sometimes, only a McDonald's 99p cheeseburger will suffice.

And now you can get one of the glorious .modern masterpieces for free, as McDonald's is giving away its famous cheeseburgers for free on its app.

The free cheeseburger offer might say that it's only available to people on new accounts on the McDonald's, but there's a very easy way to get around this...

Essentially, as dots don't matter in the bit before the @ sign in a Gmail email address, simply say your email address is "johnsmith@gmail.com", and then any emails sent to the likes of john.smith@gmail.com, jo.hn.smith@gmail.com, j.o.h.ns.m.ith@gmail.com, john.s.m.it.h@gmail.com etc will all end up in your original "johnsmith@gmail.com" inbox. Genius.

The McDonald's app is available on both Apple and Android, and it will take a few minutes for the freebie deal to load on your phone once you're all set up.

The Gmail hack means you can get it even if you already have the app (Bloomberg)

One user named Jamie15 confirmed the deal worked for them, saying "I can confirm this offer is legit as I have gotten it myself", but being a hack, there's no promise that this tip will actually work, so you'll need to try it for yourself.

There's also no word on when the offer will last until, or if you can swap it for a different veggie option instead.
