McDonald's in Stockport has reopened after a knifeman threatened a member of staff

A Stockport McDonald's has now reopened hours after a man threatened staff with a knife.

Police were called to Bredbury on Wednesday to reports of a man threatening an employee at the Whitefield Road restaurant with a weapon.

The incident sparked a large response and the site was cordoned off for several hours while police investigations took place at the restaurant, which is close to J25 of the M60.

Members of staff were seen waiting outside the restaurant as crime scene investigators carried out work inside the restaurant, while a number of officers stood guard outside.

A Seat Leon was seen being loaded onto a trailer and removed from the restaurant's car park.
