McDonald's has new trick to avoid the queues and the drive-thru

McDonald's is rolling out a new system that will allow people to dodge the queues - and even skip waiting for drive-thru.

McDonald’s is announcing a new service called ‘ Click & Serve ’, available on the My McDonald’s App which will help people avoid queuing when collecting their food.

From this week, McDonald’s fans up and down the country will be able to use Click & Serve, which allows customers to order from home, drive to the restaurant and have their food delivered to their car, preventing the need to queue for the Drive Thru or enter the restaurant.

Customers order via the My McDonald’s App and drive to the restaurant where they will be signposted to special parking bays. Within the app they can complete their order by entering their bay number and the order will be freshly prepared and delivered to the car window.

As well as contact-free ordering and payment via the app, whilst delivering the food, employees will be wearing a face covering and the food and drinks will be in takeaway bags on a tray to minimise any contact.

The new service acts as a nostalgic nod to how McDonald’s started in the 1940s, where the first ever restaurant in San Bernardino, California brought-in carhop servicing and delivered McDonald’s orders to customers cars.

Click & Serve will be available in all Drive Thrus by the end of next week.
