McDonald's has made a big change to its Happy Meals

McDonald’s has made a change to its Happy Meals this week with new prizes making their way into the famous boxes.

Best selling children’s author Tom Fletcher made his McDonald’s debut this week as his new books became available free with kids’ meals.

Tom has written a series of eight brand new story books exclusively for the fast food chain, and the first four are now available, reports KentLive.

The books are launching as part of McDonald’s ongoing Book or Toy initiative, which allows families to choose between a book or a toy with every Happy Meal.

Tom is the McDonald’s Happy Readers author for the first time ever, following in the footsteps of Roald Dahl and David Walliams. Each book is 100% recyclable and are packaged in paper.

Tom said: "I'm delighted to release these new stories, written exclusively for McDonald's Happy Readers programme.

"It is such a fantastic way to inspire children to enjoy reading and I am incredibly proud to be a part of this initiative.

"Families choosing a book with their Happy Meal this October will receive one of my new stories, following the adventures of Izzy, her cousin Benjy and their magical time-travelling van - with the odd appearance from some of my other favourite characters too."

McDonald’s also released a range of new products this week, including a Spicy Quarter Pounder and Nacho Cheese Wedges.
